Hello & welcome!

The Lash Nook is a unique collective for beauty artists located inside 18 Mill Street in the heart of downtown Carleton Place, Ontario.

I launched 'Lash by Kara Miles' in 2016, and The Lash Nook officially established its first brick-and-mortar location in 2018 with the help of my partner and his skill set. Together, we created a beautiful nook that I still feel at home in, even though I'm now in a larger location that's a dream come true.
As many of you know, life can present challenging times, and while money may have been my driving factor in the beginning, it isn't anymore. Becoming a female entrepreneur has been an incredibly enriching and sometimes challenging journey, and having a supportive network of family, friends, and colleagues who understand my mission and continuously encourage my efforts is crucial.

The Lash Nook has evolved beyond being just a business; it has become an opportunity for me to be part of something bigger than myself, bringing me closer to my community and helping me build valuable relationships with many wonderful and inspiring women.

For me, everything I do and every decision I make is fuelled by my love for my family. They inspire me to become a better person, mom, daughter, friend, and business owner every day.
During the daytime I really try to make health conscious choices, but I also love staying up late and indulging in a ‘not so good for you’ cheese covered snack.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than ripping off a strip of wax and seeing all the hair! If you don't hear me say 'OH, THAT'S SO SATISFYING,' you haven't waited long enough between your appointments.
I also love to dance, I wont lie and say there isn’t a chance you may never catch me chewing on pink bubble mint gum and shaking my booty upon your arrival!
If I wasn’t The Lash Nook by Kara Miles, I’d probably be rescuing, walking and cuddling hundreds of dogs till the day I die.

KARA’S TIPS

It comes down to your personal preference. I always say that a lift is a great alternative to extensions however, it is not comparable. A lift & tint takes your natural lashes and curls and colours them. Extensions add an individual lash extension (or more) to each natural lash, adding volume and colour. The best solution is to come in for a consult, there are pros and cons to both and I’m very happy to chat with you about them. Together we will figure out what works best for you and your lifestyle!
To properly prepare for a spray tan you need to exfoliate and shave the day before. Arrive to your appointment in dark loose fitted clothing, with no makeup on. Rinse off the spray 8 hours after application.
A lash lift and tint lasts for 6-8 weeks. During this time the lashes will start to slowly straighten back out. It is so progressive that you won’t even notice. Especially in the first 48 hours, avoid steam, oily facial products, and mascara. Be gentle!

Absolutely!!! And you better! I recommend washing your lashes, with a lash extension approved cleanser, every couple of days.
If they are done properly, by a certified lash artist, they will not. The proper weight and length is decided during an in-person consultation at the time of your appointment. As long as proper maintenance is done at home, and you come for a fill every 2-3 weeks. You can continue this routine for your lifetime!
This is a common question with teeth whitening. I use a very gentle approach to bleaching. Once the service is done, I will apply a remineralizer. This will seal everything up and protect your teeth from sensitivity.
I can save your brows! At your first appointment we will discuss your brow goals. With a good serum, and NO MORE PLUCKING, I can get you to a point that makes you happy. After which, we will book you in every 4-6 weeks. As long as you leave them alone I can help you!
No it won’t! It can deposit some colour, however, it comes out with a simple wash. The colour that you leave with immediately after a tan is a cosmetic bronzer. This is used as a colour guide for myself as well as instant satisfaction for you. Once you rinse this off there is nothing that rubs off, and you’re left with a beautiful natural glow.
